This Is Why I LOVE Losing Instagram Followers

Happy Tuesday, and welcome back to my blog. Today I want to talk to you guys about a topic that’s a little bit controversial, and I’m sure a lot of people are probably going to think I’m crazy when they hear what this video’s going to be about, but I just got to say it, guys. I just have to say it.

I love losing followers, and you should too. You should love losing followers. No, I have not lost my mind, and I will explain to you in a second exactly what I mean.

No, guys, I do not have a concussion. I really do love losing followers. Obviously, I’m not talking about all followers. I don’t want all my followers to go away, because that’s against the point of me trying to grow on Instagram. But I do love losing followers which are not my ideal clients. A lot of times, what people will do, is they will only focus on the number at the top of their page. They’re like, “Oh, my gosh, I had 2,000 yesterday, and then today I have 1,964. I lost 36 followers. This is the worst day of my life.” You guys, look, not all the followers that you get are going to be your ideal audience and your ideal clients, okay? So, there’s really no point for them to stick around.

A lot of times, you’ll also notice you’ll get a lot of followers. Just one day, you’ll see bam, bam, bam, bam, a bunch of new followers on your account. They could have found you through hashtags or the explorer page, through whatever.

Chances are that these people are doing a method called follow unfollow, which I hate, so please never do follow unfollow. It is literally the most useless thing ever. But I’m not going to get upset. I’ll just keep going. Anyways, don’t do follow unfollow. That’s probably how these people found you, and they’re following you so that you could follow them and then they can unfollow you so that they can get more followers. It’s a really dumb method. It doesn’t work, and we don’t want these type of people on our account anyways.

The other reason is that you could be getting fake accounts following you. Depending on the hashtags you use, and there’s a whole bunch of other different things that go into this, fake accounts, in an attempt to look real, will start following a bunch of people. They won’t like any of your content. They’ll just bam, bam, bam. They’ll start following you because they found your account on a hashtag or whatever, and they want to make themselves look real, their account look more real, and so they start following you so that they have a higher number of people they’re following. And they hope that maybe you’ll follow them back to legitimize their account.

These are all reasons why you could have followers in your account and honestly, guys, they are useless. The only followers you really ideally want on your page are people that are engaged with your content, that love you and love what your page is about, not just followers just for the sake of followers. We want people to actually care about what we post, and happen to be our ideal audience and our ideal clients, because if they’re not, when we launch a product or when we launch a service, they’re not going to buy from us. They don’t care. They’re just following us for whatever reason. They’re fake, they’re doing follow unfollow, who knows.

We want people on our page that will buy from us when we promote something, that actually care about our content. If we do a meet-up, they’ll show up. If we go live on InstaLive, they’re going to be showing up there because they care about us and they want to hear more of what we have to offer.

So, if you guys are losing followers, don’t worry about it, unless you’re starting to notice that a lot of your engaged, active followers are leaving. That’s when you should get concerned and be like, “Wait, why are they leaving? Is my content not speaking to them anymore? What’s going on?” But if it’s literally you see a fluctuation in your numbers, and you see a bunch of men following you and they’re not your ideal audience, or you see a bunch of spam accounts, don’t even worry about losing them. In fact, you should be glad that you lose them. Because at the end of the day, we want real people to stick around. It doesn’t matter if you have 500 or 5,000 followers. What really matters is that they are all engaged.

I hope that helps you guys get over your fear of losing followers. I honestly lose about 2,000 followers a day, and I gain 2300. It really depends. The numbers totally fluctuate, so don’t worry about it.

If you really want a good method to figure out whether or not you’re losing followers consistently, look at your follower count once a week. Every Sunday, just look at the number of followers you have. If it’s larger than the week before, you’re fine. If it’s smaller consistently, then you might have to start wondering, what’s going on with my strategy, and why is it not working?
